For the last crystal in this blog, I thought I would highlight a stone that’s been wonderful to me, but is often overlooked. Shungite is definitely one of my top three favorite stones. Shungite has a matte black coloring and is extremely smooth. It caught my eye because of just how dark it is; it looked as if it were absorbing light. I found this to be interesting when I learned shungite’s main use, which is to absorb negative energy around it. Since I purchased it, I almost always have shungite on my person.
As I said, Shungite gets rid of negative energy. The way it was described to me was that it is has extremely high vibrational energy, and acts much like a membrane, only letting positive energy in. Throughout my research of spirituality, not many have talked about shungite. Those that do, though, hold it in a very high regard. I did not believe that a rock could help keep bad vibes away until I started carrying shungite in my purse. Since then, I have noticed such a positive change in my interactions. Shungite is actually a conductive stone, which may account for so many being shocked by the energy it holds.
In a more literal sense, shungite use originated in Russia as a medicinal stone. It is only found in a small region of Russia, so it is a fairly uncommon stone. It is hypothesized that shungite is here as result of a meteorite crash, but is has not been proven. Shungite contains fullerenes, which are tiny dome shaped carbon molecules. It has since grown to be used in both medicine and spiritual practices. Shungite contains antioxidants that purify water, which is the basis of its medicinal use. For centuries, many spiritual and non spiritual people have placed shungite in bath water for a purifying experience literally and metaphorically. More recently, it is used more in meditation practices and as I use it, to protect my energy.
I personally do not meditate with shungite often, as it is a very intense, truthful stone. Because it absorbs all negativity, there is no room for sugar coating anything. I have had multiple realizations while meditating with shungite that I was definitely not ready to realize just yet. On the other hand, shungite is my go to rock to meditate with when facing a bug decision. I always seem to be able to look at my options and truly think of each opportunity in those meditations.
I hope you all have enjoyed learning about some of my favorite crystals, and hope that you can find a way to use them to your advantage as well!
