- Description: This Buddha image implies the doctrinal importance of his enlightenment and of the holy site of Bodhgaya. The bodhi tree, the halo, elephants and the enormous double lotus throne, in this figure are some of the early buddhist symbols. There are two angels flying above buddha with flower garlands signify buddha’s royal heritage. Buddha is sided by two bodhisattvas in this figure. Buddha holds his right hand downward in the earth-touching gesture “bhumisparsha mudra” with which he calls the earth goddess to affirm that he is entitled to attain enlightenment.
