- Description: This sculpture of Surya, the Sun God is an incredibly beautiful and vibrant representation. Made of Brass in the early 700’s in Kashmir, it is one of the most elegant, simple, yet detailed pieces of art. The Sun god is seen wearing a dress and boots with plenty of jewelry and a crown. The whole sculpture is in the natural gold like brass color, representative of the color of the sun itself. The dress itself has beautiful borders and designs all over it, plus a belt-like bow on the waist, the design, however, can be seen fading due to the old age of the sculpture. A nice little touch to the sculpture is that Surya is holding sunflowers in both hands, along with a design carved into the forehead of the god. The face itself shows a close eyed, smiling Surya depicting calmness. When it comes to jewelry, Surya is wearing a simple beaded necklace and has a lavish crown on his head with sunflower patterns all over it. The boots themselves have beadlike spheres on them creating the shape of another sunflower.
