Once upon a time at the age of 19 while working at my family’s silver jewelry store a handsome man
accompanied by his friends walked in the store, he was 25. The minute we saw each other we fell in love at
first sight. We dated long distance and he visited Taxco, Mexico a few times while I was applying for a
Mexican Government paid scholarship to attend college in the USA. My name is Minerva, his name is Ben
and he is an Artist.

After receiving my scholarship, I moved to Charlotte, N.C. to study Hotel and Restaurant Management, Ben
lived in Pennsylvania, we were engaged and planned to get married in Mexico after my graduation. I went
back to Mexico so that Ben could apply for a Fiancée Visa. From the time we met until we got married 7 years
had passed.

I can say that love brought me to USA where we reside in Munson, PA in a house that used to be a church and
where a studio space houses Ben’s paintings. I have worked at Penn State University for almost 20 years and
Ben has made a name with his art. I have the best of two worlds, being Mexican and being American after
living here for 37 years.
