Quarantine got interesting when my sister came home from her boyfriend’s and brought their dog with her. Yes, I know, this violates quarantine, but they had been sheltered in a single room at his house and needed a change of scenery. This also happened three weeks ago, so I think we’re in the clear. I’m the one in my family who is still going to work 4-5 days a week so we’re already basically screwed.
Anyway, my sister brought her dog home, and it’s been a good time. Her dog just recently turned a year old, so she’s still a puppy despite being the biggest pet in the house. In contrast to our dog, Scrappy, Lola is incredibly energetic. She’s also cute, so everyone’s been having fun playing with her and showing her affection.
One of the most tiring traits that Lola possesses is her love for the game of fetch. She enjoys chasing tennis balls, brining them back, and dropping them in your lap. She’ll stare at you until you throw the ball again, and I’ve found it gets annoying after the tenth time or so. I’m not one to cave to animals, but she really has the definition of puppy eyes so it’s hard to just stop.
Lola’s cute but she can also be a pain sometimes. She didn’t get along with Scrappy at first, and they fought a few times. Luckily, things are improving now, but it would get intense at first. They now tolerate each other, and there hasn’t been any fighting in a few weeks, so I think they’ll be fine.
Lola is also hard to take outside. She enjoys water, so she likes to sprint through our stream and get muddy. My grandma had her leash while walking her at a park the other day, and she nearly dragged my grandma down a hill. I can’t really imagine a worse scenario taking place right now than that.
Lola is definitely making her way into our hearts. She’s a really good dog. She likes attention, getting pet, and she’s been licking my cat, Buddy, and also Scrappy, which I assume is a sign of affection.
It’s been nice having another dog during the quarantine. It’s more difficult to feel miserable when you have animals forcing you to show them affection and care for them and throw balls for them over and over.
It’ll suck when she leaves but I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
