2nd-Annual ASB East Coast Conference
Penn State Berks hosted our second regional American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) conference on April 12-13, 2019. Over 50 undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty presented posters and podium sessions at this year’s two-day conference. Over 90 attendees came for workshops on Visual 3D and Virtual Reality on the first day and presentations on the second. The conference featured Dr. Jonathan Dingwell as the keynote speaker where he presented on avoiding accidental bias in research studies.
National Biomechanics Day 2019
Penn State Berks and the Human Movement Research Center hosted our 3rd-annual National Biomechanics Day on April 10, 2019. This year, over 220 students from 13 Berks and Lehigh Valley High Schools joined us for 13 different workshops.

Penn State Berks and HMRC Host Regional ASB Meeting
On April 20 and 21, Penn State Berks hosted a regional meeting for the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB). Over 100 undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and industry representatives attended with 51 poster and podium presentations. Attendees participated in hands-on workshops, parallel sessions, and lunchtime breakouts. Dr. Jill Higginson of the University of Delaware delivered the keynote address.

Penn State Berks and HMRC Host National Biomechanics Day
On April 11, Penn State Berks hosted over 130 high school students from ten schools from Berks and Lehigh counties at our second-annual National Biomechanics Day. Students rotated through sessions that demonstrated biomechanics principals and showed them our laboratories including the cadaver lab, water channel, motion capture lab and EKG treadmill. This year had over 50% more student than last year and added an extra hour of activity. Presenters included faculty and students from Penn State Berks as well as clinicians from Penn State Health St. Joseph and Tower Health.
National Biomechanics Day 2018
We will be hosting our second annual National Biomechanics Day on April 11, 2018. This event is designed for high school students interested in science and engineering and, particularly, their applications to human movement. The event consists of workshops conducted by Penn State Berks faculty, staff, and undergraduate research students. Workshops will include interactive laboratory activities, school and career information and time for questions. The workshop locations include our Motion Capture Lab, new Water Channel and Fluids Lab, Virtual Reality Lab, Cadaver Lab, and 3D Printer workspace.
