Drs. Joseph Mahoney, Praveen Veerabhadrappa and Nathan Greenauaer have had their paper, “Pokémon Go Did Not Increase Step Count or Distance Travelled Among College Students“, accepted for publication in Human Movement. The paper is co-authored by undergraduate students in Science at Penn State Berks.

 

PSU Berks to Co-host ASB East Coast Conference 2020

Penn State Berks and the HMRC were selected to co-host our third annual regional American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) conference on April 24-25, 2020. HMRC Members present at ASB/ISB Conference

Drs. Joe Mahoney, Matthew Rhudy and Allison Singles presented their work, “Footstrike Pattern Recognition Using Machine Learning on Tibial Accelerometry” at the annual ASB/ISB conference in Calgary.

2nd-Annual ASB East Coast Conference

Penn State Berks hosted our second regional American Society of Biomechanics (ASB) conference on April 12-13, 2019. Over 50 undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty presented posters and podium sessions at this year’s two-day conference. Over 90 attendees came for workshops on Visual 3D and Virtual Reality on the first day and presentations on the second. The conference featured Dr. Jonathan Dingwell as the keynote speaker where he presented on avoiding accidental bias in research studies.

National Biomechanics Day 2019

Penn State Berks and the Human Movement Research Center hosted our 3rd-annual National Biomechanics Day on April 10, 2019. This year, over 220 students from 13 Berks and Lehigh Valley High Schools joined us for 13 different workshops.

Biomechanics “Track” Created for Berks ME Program

The Penn State Berks Mechanical Engineering and Kinesiology programs have collaborated to form a Recommended Academic Plan for ME students at Berks to minor in Kinesiology with a focus in Biomechanics. ME students should talk to their academic advisor about pursuing the program.
