Phoenix Fire Co.

This locations is where the old and original Firehouse use to be. On March 1st 1871 was when Phoenix steam fire engine company was first initialized and then in 1872 the Allegheny Hook and Latter company was formed. in February 1837 the borough purchased its first fire engine built by Jacob in December 1837 the made the first attempt but wasn’t successful till 1838 meeting at the U.s Hotel. 1840-1841 was the first company organized called Diamond Engine company.

Blair County Station claims they are the only original Blair County fire company to make it through both World Wars and the Great Depression. There is a new station that sits at 206 Wayne Street. They run two engines, a rescue, a QRS squad and a tower truck. The chief now is Tony DiBona. It is an all volunteer station that has been active for over 100 years It has about 20 active volunteers, and responds to fires, vehicle accidents, medical incidents, and other public service details, using a four-vehicle fleet. The department responds to about 500 calls per year
