The Presbyterian Church was started in 1788, in what is now considered the present day cemetery. The church started gradually gaining more members and had to soon upgrade size in buildings. The church transitioned to a bigger sanctuary in 1836 and service was ran peacefully until 1850, when the church caught on fire. The presbyterian church still continued service in the town courthouse, because of the abundance of followers. The new chapel was built in 1870 on walnut street and still resides there right now.
