Hello! I am Hannah Mirshahi and I’m hyped to share about RCL and one of my passions on this blog! Let me tell you a bit about myself: I am a first year Schreyer Scholar at Penn State, and I am an intended Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. I am an undergraduate researcher for the Rolls Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, am a treasury subchair in Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-health professionals society, and run cross country. In my free time, I absolutely love embroidering. I am also a complete track junkie, ask me any track world record and I can probably name it down to the hundredth of the second.
RCL stands for Rhetoric and Civic Life, and the course focuses on strengthening students’ communication skills to use during everyday life. The course incorporates oral, written, visual, and digital modes of communication to help students develop such skills. These modes of communication include this blog, which acts as a digital mode of communication.
My blog contains an RCL section, a civic issues section, and a passion section. Under the RCL section of my blog, I discussed my thoughts on different civic-related topics and the rhetoric surrounding them. In the civic issues section, I am going to be focusing on issues that fall within four topics–politics, identities and rights, sustainability, and education. For the first semester of my PAS section, I gave analyses of some of my favorite artworks. For the second semester of my PAS posts, I am going to be discussing my thoughts on each of the Mario Kart Wii cups.
