The Americanizing of the different practices that make up Chinese medicine traditions cannot be fully understood without attention to the full range of Americans who have engaged in the process. In particular, this story requires us to look at the role of underrepresented minorities who have played a part in the adoption, expansion and, ultimately, Americanization of the related practices throughout the country’s history, and in all its regions.
