Gastronomy.

When it comes to describing who I am and what I enjoy there is always one definitive trait that pops into my head, Food. From the rich buttery cuisine of the French to the spice filled dishes of Italy, all different types of cuisine interest me. This in fact is the the demonstration of gastronomy. Gastronomy has two definitions. One, it is the art of cooking and eating fine food, the second definition, the study of food and culture with an emphasis on gourmet cuisine.

My interest level in gastronomy is so high that during my high school year, my friends and I decided to create a gastronomy club. This club was created so that we could attract others who enjoyed to eat. We had meetings twice a month, the first meeting occurred in the first week of the month, and it’s purpose was to decide where we would eat. The second meeting of the month was to decide transportation and costs of the following trip. Once of month on a Friday after school, the group would head out to restaurants we did not know of. Our goal was to try something new and try something interesting.

By the end of the school year we had visited well over 8 restaurants with a couple added just for fun. We started with a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant that created a succulent Orange Chicken with a citrus flavor so strong it’ll make you pucker your lips, we visited several different food trucks, one of which created a unique grilled cheese stuffed with lobster. We ventured to restaurants we would not have ever dreamed of going, such as Ethiopian cuisine. We also visited burger joints where the burger would be grilled to a perfect medium rare and placed on a toasted sesame bun and only paired with the freshest of condiments, stacked next to mile high piles of french fries and onion rings.

The creation of a blog for our club was used to spread word to our school and any other reader that food must be enjoyed and it must be appreciated. Thus I continue to satisfy my interest in gastronomy, wherever and whenever I eat, I always make sure to appreciate what I am eating. Bon appetit.

I really enjoyed this post. It is very well written and visual which had me imagining myself eating the mile high burger! I think it is so cool that you started a club at your school, and I would have loved to be in it. I recently started going outside my comfort zone and trying new foods so I think that the club you made would have been a really cool and enjoyable experience. The post is very vivid which made me feel like I was eating the meals at the restaurant with you. I also liked how you made a blog so that if people didn’t go eat with you, they could still hear about the experience. I look forward to reading more about gastronomy but I might have to have breakfast before I do!
