Hi everyone, I thought this week I was just going to do a random thing from my bucket list items, and I ended up doing that without even noticing! Over the weekend my boyfriend mentioned how he has always wanted a bleached tie dyed hoodie after he saw one on Instagram, and so therefore I went and bought a black hoodie and decided to bleach tie dye him one! So on this weeks bucket list item, I bleached a black hoodie and a Penn State t-shirt for myself. I can attach pictures of what they turned out like at the end!
I first started off by buying a random Penn State navy blue t-shirt from the bookstore at the Hub, and ordering a plain black hoodie off of Amazon for my boyfriend. I first took the hoodie, pinched it in the middle and swirled it up so it would have a swirl affect. I then took six rubber bands to tie the hoodie into place and make sure it doesn’t come apart while I bleach it. I then took my t-shirt and did the same exact thing to my shirt because I also wanted a swirl affect. I then went to the bathroom and put paper bags down on the floor of the shower, and poured bleach onto the hoodie and shirt. I then moved them with the bags under neath in to outside the shower while they soaked in the bleach and showered. After my shower, it still was not the color I wanted so I waited another half an hour for it to soak in. After I felt they were as bleached as I wanted them, I took the rubber bands off and washed out the hoodie and shirt under the shower. I then wrapped them in a plastic bag and brought it over to the laundry room to wash them. I washed them, then I dried them, and they turned out pretty well! It wasn’t my first time doing this so I knew what I was doing, but it was my first time bleaching a hoodie, and a Penn State shirt so I was very pleased with how both of them turned out! The hoodie became a lot more bleached then what I was going for, but now I know for next time to not put as much as I did this time!
If you’re feeling creative, go buy a random Penn State shirt, hoodie, sweatpants, or whatever you are feeling and go crazy! It’s a lot of fun to do with friends especially if you do a matching set with a friend, and it’s quite simple. Just make sure to wash your hands after, and to wear gloves not to damage your skin!

Hey Isabel, Happy Halloween!
I am definitely going to try this! I’ve tie dyed things before but never with bleach. It has such a cool affect. I’ve seen some of these on Instagram too and I can see why your boyfriend would want one. I think it’s really cool that you decided to make one for him, and it turned out really well! Also, making some bleach tie dyed clothes with someone and having a matching set is a really good idea. That sounds so fun! Can’t wait to see what you do next:)

Hi Izabel!
This is so cool, I love it!! Similar to what Hannah did, I died a pair of jeans with bleach but I have never actually done anything with tie dye. I like how you added all the steps you did to make sure the sweatshirt came out perfect. I will definitely be coming back to this blog when I decide to tie dye something of my own 🙂 I hope you had a good halloween!

Hi Izabel,
Tie-dyeing is super fun and it’s really nice to see you enjoyed it! I really like the matching shirt and hoodie you made; I think it came out really well! Matching tie-dye sets sound really cute. I’ll definitely try this!
