Building on the growing success of our International Conference on Empirical Economics (ICEE PSU Altoona) series, Penn State Altoona (USA) is delighted to host the conference once again in August 2025, featuring both online and in-person sessions. We warmly invite colleagues to submit their research and participate in this exciting event.

  • Online Sessions (August 2, 2025): Attending online sessions will again be free for all admitted participants of the 2025 ICEE PSU Altoona.
  • In-Person Sessions (August 3, 2025): In-person sessions will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. A $200 fee will apply to primary presenters to help cover overheads.
    • Venue: Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square (website)
    • Address: 300 W Station Square Dr, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, 15219
    • Note: The $200 fee does not include lodging. Participants are welcome to stay at a hotel of their choice. For those traveling by air, the nearest airport is Pittsburgh International Airport. The hotel is approximately 1 mile (20-minute walk) from Pittsburgh Union Station (PGH), the city’s main Amtrak railway station.

All submissions will undergo a thorough review by our Paper Review Committee. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions and facilitating engaging discussions on economics.

Scope of Conference

The conference’s focus is empirical economics.

Format of Presentations

Each paper is allocated 25 minutes by default, including the author’s presentation, the discussant report(s), and general Q&A. However, participants in a session can agree on alternative timing arrangements. Please see our FAQs page for more details.

Submission/Registration Fees

  • Primary Presenters of In-Person Sessions: $200 per primary presenter
    • Please refer to our FAQs page for the details about primary presenters and co-presenters.
    • The submission fee does not cover travel, lodging, or meal expenses.
  • All Other Participants: No fees required.

  • Deadline for Submission: April 15, 2025 (UTC -05:00, i.e., New York local time)
  • Confirmation of Valid Submission: We no longer email confirmations to all participants. Please use the inquiry form on the Submission Status page to check the status of your submission.
  • Acceptance Letter:
    • We only send decision letters to authors of accepted submissions. Inquiries are welcome.
    • There are two Post-Acceptance Tasks for admitted participants. Please see the FAQs page for details.
  • Conference:
    • Online Sessions: Saturday, August 2, 2025 (UTC -05:00, i.e., New York local time)
    • In-person Sessions: Sunday, August 3, 2025

Special Note

  • Presenter Arrival Suggestion: We suggest that presenters of in-person sessions arrive in Pittsburgh on Friday before the conference to dedicate Saturday to online participation while preparing for their in-person sessions on Sunday.
  • Documentation: We only provide an email acceptance letter and do not issue additional documents to support U.S. visa applications for the in-person sessions.
  • Certification of Participation: We do not provide individual certificates of participation.
  • Conference Publications: We do not publish proceedings or other publications for our conference.
  • Digital Program: We offer an online, mobile-friendly version of the program. Printed copies will not be provided.
