Welcome to The IECP Blog, Penn State’s official blog for the Intensive English Communication Program! We are happy you stopped by!
The IECP faculty and staff were excited to welcome returning and new students for the fall semester on Monday August 21st. This semester our students come to State College from a dozen different countries: Argentina, Brazil, China, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. IECP students are a talented group of all ages and experience; we have students who are currently on our Pathway to Penn State program, taking Penn State classes in addition to IECP courses; there are students who already have degrees and research experience in their home countries; we have lots of soccer fans among our students; we have students from the Royal Saudi Navy; there are several new moms and dads in the group; and we even have a student who can do magic tricks!
On Thursday, August 31, students took a break after classes to enjoy some pizza in Ritenour. We love pizza at the IECP! The next pizza party will take place on Tuesday, November 16. Until then stay tuned via email, social media, and in class for information on upcoming social events that the IECP has planned.
We look forward to a fun, productive semester of lots of learning and new experiences!

I loved reading about our new students and can’t wait to see what else happens this semester! I’m already excited for the next pizza party; they are a great way to interact with and learn about the fantastic students of the IECP! 🙂
