Barbara cover photoBárbara Venegas is a Ph.D. candidate and Fulbright scholar at the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department. Her current main research interests are supply chain engineering and logistics, but she has also worked in healthcare applications and financial engineering projects. You can find her at the Service Engineering & Applied Optimization Lab.

Bárbara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Universidad de La Frontera in Temuco, Chile. During her undergrad years she did research in artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling applied to logistics, supply chain management, and bioinformatics. Before coming to Penn State she worked for three years in procurement and global sourcing for a retail company in Chile. Outside work Bárbara loves cooking, reading, board games, and puzzles, and she is currently coping with the stress of the Ph.D. life with some kickboxing (highly recommended!!). In addition, being born and raised in South America surrounded by the Andes she also enjoys outdoor activities like camping and hiking.
