The PSU iEnsemble

MUSIC 497C- iEnsemble is offered at University Park campus.  The focus of this course is designed to provide students with opportunities to explore arranging, improvisation, and composition through the use of mobile devises and music applications. Topics include: philosophical discussions about what it means to musical, the exploration of musical applications and mobile devises, basics understanding of sound synthesis, the creation and performance of individual arrangements and compositions, the exploration of improvisation, basic video editing, and ensemble rehearsal and performance. The instructional format includes: lecture, small group discussion, readings, musical examples, and the creation and arrangement of music. Students complete several practical assignments including arrangements of a known songs, improvisation within set parameters, and individual and group compositions.
