IllumiNATION is an evolving student-focused arts-based festival that aims to highlight the intersection of sustainability and the arts, sustainability-focused efforts already happening on our campus, and encourage students to do and learn more. The bulk of IllumiNATION events happen between Earth Hour, the last Saturday in March, and Earth Day April 22. Events include artist talks, panels, and workshops; film screenings; and student art exhibitions.
Please watch this talk by Creative Director, Cheryl Capezzuti in the Fall of 2019 to get a sense of our origins and ethos. While COVID has caused us to adjust some aspects of what IllumiNATION is, this video talks about what drives us; creating a unified Penn State community, full of responsible and inclusive citizens of the world by encouraging creativity, practicing sustainability, and providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
