PAX Group @ Penn State

Welcome to the PAX [1] Group at the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos, Department of Physics at Penn State.  The research focus of our group is to explore the Universe with gravitational waves.  We are interested in wide-ranging problems from the expansion history of the Universe to the phases of dense matter in neutron star cores and from tests of general relativity and modified gravity theories to astrophysical models of compact binaries. As detectors become more sensitive it is important to develop accurate waveform models and new data analysis algorithms, which are also the focus of our research.

[1] PAX stands for Physics and Astrophysics at the eXtreme and it is also the name of a workshop series I started in 2016 and takes place roughly once year during the summer break.
