Gabriel is a second-year PhD student in Industrial Engineering at Penn State. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) – Brazil – with complementary course work done at the North Dakota State University in Fargo. Before starting his graduate studies, Gabriel worked for Morgan Stanley and Itaú BBA Banks in São Paulo in the M&A and Project Finance fronts. Currently, he is a Research Assistant to Dr. Terry L. Friesz and his research makes use of nonlinear optimization, game theory, machine learning and spatiotemporal statistics to investigate problems related to urban transportation networks, traffic resilience and dynamic traffic assignment. At INFORMS, Gabriel is the President. He is a (suffered) fan of São Paulo FC by heart and a fan of DC United by convenience.

William Peck is a PhD student in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research having previously obtained a dual M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Penn State and a B.S. Honors in Industrial Engineering, University Honors from New Mexico State University. Under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Finke, his research focuses on Manufacturing as a Service, Heuristic Development, and Simulation Modeling. Having grown up in a desert, William is fascinated by all things green and enjoys traveling to all the small towns in Pennsylvania. He is an avid cyclist and active member of Penn State’s Club Cross Country. When his studies are finished, he hopes to return to the promised land of New Mexico where he will pursue a career at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Meng Liu is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State University. He received his dual-title master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at the Penn State, and a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Energy System from Wuhan University, China. He had worked as a licensed reactor operator in a nuclear power plant for 6 years. He is currently a Research Assistant in Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Analytics (LISA). His research applies data mining, statistical learning and optimization techniques towards topics in healthcare. Meng enjoys traveling with his friends, playing video games and basketball.

Geneviève Dartigue is a master’s student in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State University and she is currently pursuing a dual-title master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from the University of Florida. Before joining the graduate program at Penn State, she worked as a Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst at Infinite Energy, an energy distributor. Her current master’s project is focused on the dynamic facilities planning problem applied in the healthcare setting. When not working or studying, Geneviève enjoys ballroom dancing and learning foreign languages.

Lan Jin is a Ph.D. student in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at Penn State. She received her master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from University of Wisconsin-Madison and bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Shanghai Jiaotong University, China. Before joining Penn State, Lan worked in Fin-tech sector for a year as a financial engineer. She joined Penn State in 2018 and served as Vice President for Operations. Her research interest lies in the field of applied probability, stochastic optimal control with the application in emerging healthcare decision process. Lan likes hiking, snowboarding and fitness.

Yajie Wu is a Ph.D. student in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at Penn State. She holds her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics). Her research methodology lies in data-driven algorithms, online learning algorithms, stochastic modeling and optimization, which apply to supply chain optimization and revenue management. Yajie enjoys travelling to different places and watching all genres of movies in her free time.

Siqi Zhang is a Ph.D. student in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at Penn State. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University and Harbin Engineering University, China. She is currently a Research assistant in the Complex Systems Monitoring, Modeling, and Controls Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Hui Yang. Her research interest is about data-driven modeling and analysis for process control, system diagnostics, and performance optimization, with special focus on nonlinear dynamics. She enjoys hiking with her dog Fermi and Netflix shows.

Maryam Zokaeinikoo is a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. She holds a M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from K.N.Toosi University of Technology, Tehran. She is currently working as a graduate assistant at the Pennsylvania State University on data science and machine learning projects related to various healthcare problems. Her primary research is focused on developing deep learning methods and natural language processing (NLP) using artificial neural networks for chronic disease management (Alzheimer’s disease and Heart failure).

Adam Meyers is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Harold & Inge Marcus Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at Penn State. He holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics from Miami University and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively. He recently completed a summer-long internship at IBM, where he worked with the Data Intensive Physical Analytics research group that is responsible for developing a platform for big geospatial-temporal data (called PAIRS). He is currently working in the Complex Systems Monitoring, Modeling, and Controls Lab under the supervision of Dr. Hui Yang. His research involves the fault-tolerance modeling, design, and optimization of sensor networks that are subject to stochastic sensor failures over time.

Ning Liu is a Dual-Title Ph.D. candidate in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Penn State University. He holds the Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and Bachelor of Engineering degree in Traffic and Transportation from Civil Aviation University of China. He is currently a University Graduate Fellow and a Research Assistant in Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Analytics (LISA). His research applies data mining, statistical learning and optimization techniques towards topics in healthcare. He is working on his interests in building predictive models for improving clinical decision-making and exploring the application of novel machine learning techniques to discover adverse drug events and drug-drug interactions from big data. Ning enjoys traveling with his friends, going to live music festivals, playing video games and doing outdoor physical activities.

Cheng-Bang Chen is a dual-title Ph.D. candidate in the department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Pennsylvania State University. He holds his master degree in Statistics from Columbia University and Industrial Engineering from National Taiwan University. He presently is a Research Assistant in Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Analytics (LISA). His passion in research is in analyzing and modeling problems through quantitative methods followed by using mathematical/statistical techniques and computer programming to solve real world problems. Lieutenant Colonel Eric Swenson is a United States Army officer and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Penn State and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. Eric is an Army Corps of Engineer officer with leadership experience from the platoon to battalion level. Eric is in his final year of Ph.D. studies and also an active member of the Industrial Engineer Graduate Association (IEGA). Eric is a member of two healthcare organizations: the Center for Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems (CIDHS) and the Center for Health Organization Transformation (CHOT). CHOT is a National Science Foundation Industry & University Cooperative Research Program (I/UCRC). His research interests involve the application of industrial engineering and operations research methods to healthcare. Upon graduation from Penn State, Eric will teach in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy.

Dika Handayani is a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing from Cal Poly Pomona. Due to her research interest in manufacturing processes, such casting, and machining, she is currently working on the machinability study of Austempered Ductile Iron. In addition to her research, Dika also had the opportunity to continue her passion in teaching by working as a teaching assistant for IE 311 course in Fall 2015 and an instructor for the same course in Spring and Summer 2016.

Sharan Srinivas is a Ph.D. candidate majoring in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY) in 2013, and his B.E. in Industrial Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, India in 2011. His research areas of interests are modeling and optimization of healthcare delivery systems, portfolio optimization/financial engineering, and supply chain engineering.
