Hardware and Software Services
This website provides students with resources for computer availability, available software, equipment like laptops, iPads, calculators, cameras, and even 3D printing access. These resources are available through highlighted links and are helpful to engineering students. Moreover, through the IT Computer Lab Software webpage there are numerous programs that you can access through computers on campus or remotely no matter the location. Engineering students can take advantage of these essential and free resources to repair their computer, get step by step instructions to work through a problem, and even get help with using apps such as Canvas or Kaltura.
Tips for using this site
- Select “Available Software” > “IT Computer Lab Software webpage” and refine your searches in the search bar to find specific software
- For example, a common engineering course requirement is Engineering Design 100 (EDSN100) and this course uses a Computer Animated Design (CAD) software called SolidWorks almost every day.
- Additional software resources are available at https://software.psu.edu
- If you break your laptop you can borrow one through Pattee and Paterno Library with up to a 7-day loan. Make sure to bring your PSU ID
- If you need a scientific calculator, engineering calculator, or a business calculator be sure to check out the various locations and loan periods which can be found under the “Laptops, iPads, and Calculators” link
- Select “IT Service Desk at the Knowledge Commons” for diagnostic advice and repairs of personal laptops, tablets, mobile devices, etc.
- The service desk is located in the Pattee Library. Check out their hours here
