Penn State Harrisburg Global Ambassador Agnesa Cherepanova hosted a coffee hour to celebrate Easter. The event took place on Tuesday March 29, 2016, in the in Gallery Lounge (W107). Students, faculty and staff attend to learn about how three different cultures celebrate Easter.

This event had three speakers from different backgrounds. The first speaker was Agnesa Cherepanova, she is a first generation American and her family is from Ukraine. She spoke about how in her country since many people are Russian Orthodox they celebrate Easter on a different day. She already shared all the different traditions that happen in her household.

The second speaker was Janose Osedeme from Nigeria. He spoke about how the different tribes in Nigeria have different festivals to celebrate. Also, how in Nigeria they love to reenact different skits relating to Easter.

The final speaker was Jim and he presented as America. He started his presentation by giving a wonderful background to the story of Easter. Then he ended with fun interesting traditions around the world that take place on Easter.

Many culture celebrate Easter with egg paintings. At the end of the event, all the attendees got to participate in egg painting contest. Students and families enjoyed painting their eggs with motifs of their country and culture. The winner went to the youngest participant of the day!!
This event showcased how different countries can celebrate the same holiday but in such different, interesting ways. Also, the snacks provided were of Ukrainian background.
