Mid-Autumn festival

Thank you CSA, and everyone who attended this year’s Mid-Autumn festival!  It was heartwarming to see everyone so active and enthusiastic.  The Office of International Students looks forward to working with CSA again for Lunar New Year. If you think you might want to perform for Lunar New Year this year, you might want to start thinking about it now!

On Speaking English and Learning:

Not being able to speak your mother tongue to express yourself is profoundly frustrating. And, speaking English (no matter the context) can be stressful.

However, discomfort, awkwardness, and challenge, are the mother of all learning. Seeking the uncomfortable is seeking knowledge.

Don’t forget, learning happens outside the classroom too!

In fact, there are two kind of knowledge:  knowing that vs. knowing how.

You might learn that a triangle has three sides in a classroom, but you learn how to capture and keep a stranger’s attention at a social gathering!

Make the most of your time at University!  Get outside of your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to speak more English. Become a Global Ambassador! Become a Global Lions Mentor/Mentee Or, just come visit us in the International Students Office (Olmsted E131).

Study Skills

Become a better student. We will be having a study skills workshop Tuesday September 20th in Olmsted W107, sponsored by the Learning Center and the Office of International Students.
