Welcome to Wireless Charging

Wireless charging is become exceptionally popular as it provides a safe and reliable way to charge. Wireless charging offers safety advantages as well as cost advantages. Technology these days are moving further away from hand-held devices and huge equipment and more into the idea of no plug-ins.

The charging is based on a magnetic resonance, also known as Inductive Power Transfer. This magnetic device allows multiple devices to charge, which is a major advantage. The fact that multiple devices can charge is a major factor of why this new technology will get popular. Another reason the wireless charging will gain in popularity is due to the charging speeds. “Charging by induction solutions currently produce slower charge times compared to a wired charger” (Wireless Charging).  The speed is an exceptionally important aspect of the digital world and the more time that goes on, the more impatient people become. That is why speed is crucial in order to make customers happy.

In the future, wireless power will be a part of everyday life. There will be no more “plug-ins” from everything from television to lights. Not only will power become more accessible, but consumers will be able to have control over how it is used. Not only in the home will wireless charging be sufficient, but also in the office. In the office, the wireless charging will result in a more efficient work environment.

  1. As I’m sitting here writing this, my phone is having issues charging due to problems with the cord. I think the concept of wireless charging is a brilliant idea. It is also something that is completely within reason. For example, there are some Beats that allow you to enable a wireless connection. Currently, the closest available option to complete wireless charging would be wireless smartphone cases. This has already been on the market for quite some time, so I can only imagine that the next step would be complete wireless charging. Not only would it be convenient for people like me who constantly use their phone, but it would be extremely convenient as well. This way, there wouldn’t be the hassle of having to plug in the device or have any functioning issues with the cord. It would also eliminate the issue of having to carry around a charger or purchase a portable one. However, I do have a few questions. Would places such as Starbucks let people have free wireless charging access? What if the smartphone user didn’t have Internet? Or what if you went to a place where there were issues with connectivity? If these issues could be resolved, then I believe wireless charging would be really successful and popular with many consumers. Wireless charging is something that is also expanding outside of smartphones. Something that I found to be very interesting is that BMW’s are soon going to offer pads that allow cars to wirelessly charge. With innovations like this, I believe that we are soon on our way to completely being able to wirelessly charge a phone.

  2. Wireless charging to me just shows how bored very smart people are. There is nothing wrong with having to plug in a device in order to charge it. In other words, I am saying that there is no flaw in this technology so there is no need for it to become any more advanced than it already has. Wireless charging is simply a convenience thing for humans. It makes you wonder how many other things in the world constantly get advanced based on the simple fact that people just want things to be easier and easier. Even though those things are already as easy as can be. Calling laziness a motivator is an oxymoron but I really feel that it empowers most of the technological advances of today’s world.

  3. I think that wireless charging would be a brilliant addition to world of technology. I hate having to keep my phone on a leash when it’s extremely low on battery. I use my phone a lot when i’m in bed and I can’t stand leaning myself over the bed to keep my phone plugged in. Although this may have a slow charging rate, I believe that as time passes this type of charging will vastly improve and extend itself to higher purposes. If worse comes to worse, you can always put your phone on a wired charger to get the best and fastest charge. I believe that if this becomes an accustomed accessory for any device, it can easily be considered as the most flexible and convenient way to charge a device.

  4. I think that wireless charging is very fascinating as well as very convenient to everyone. Wireless charging is the future because how many times do you lose, misplace, or break the charging cord. Innovation is happing everyday and this is just another step toward a fully wireless world. The next step in this innovation is to turn wireless charging into power charging where a wireless charger can take your phone from 0% to 100% within an hour. Im excited to see how everyone is going to adapt to wireless charging and what stores like Starbucks for example add wireless charging spots to there stores. There are a few downfalls to wireless charging as well. I like to hold my phone while its charging but wireless charging will not allow for this to happen. Also because different phone companies like Apple and Samsung for example have different charging chords meaning it would be different wireless charging spots. Will all electronic companies work together for one universal battery, or will companies have different wireless charging spots? We will one day find out.

  5. I think wireless charging is a fascinating concept that all consumers can and will enjoy if implemented correctly. In order for it to be successful in the world of smartphones, you need to be able to walk in a room and just have your phone be charging while keeping it usable for the consumer. I know that I personally carry around a portable charger and charge and use my phone while it is charging on a frequent basis. Also, you must keep the charging rate for long it takes for your phone to charge to similar or less time than existing chargers. Currently neither of these are the case so it is hard for the masses to justify using this new technology. If there are improvements made (which the original article focused on) this technology can be extremely useful going forward and the masses will congregate to it.

  6. Wireless charging is certainly an emerging technology that has a huge amount of potential. Not only is it efficient, it is also safer and cheaper than wired charging. It is only currently being utilized by smaller devices today but that could soon change. Wireless charging could not only impact the way we charge our phones or other wearables but also impact other industries such as transportation and medical. Today, car owners have the option of going electric but even those can only go so far. With wireless charging, car owners can just recharge their cars without going to a charging station. Medical procedures that use equipment with large batteries could also benefit from wireless charging.

  7. The idea of wireless charging really blows my mind. Just setting my phone down on a pad when I need a charge seems like amazing future tech. But when I think about it a little bit, I can definitely see a few things I would like to see worked out if the future of wireless charging will ever really take off. For starters, I feel that only being able to charge by wireless pad would be a problem. There are always situations in which your phone is almost out of charge, so you simply plug it in and keep going. This is not that simple for wireless charging, because it requires that you actively put the phone down and not really use it anymore. To really work this problem out, they would need to develop technology that would charge your cell phone via proximity to the charging station. With tech like that, everything is simple, easy, and portable.

  8. I personally think that the innovation of having wireless charging is a good one. I’ve encountered numerous times where my phone charger gets a loose wire somewhere, so my phone either doesn’t charge or bounces between charging and not charging. Being someone that charges their phone every night, this became disruptive for me when I would wake up the following morning. Wireless charging for sure can eliminate that problem and so could save consumers money. I am interested to see how much time it really could save though. I have a turbo charger which can take my phone from almost dead to say 80% in under an hour, yet this innovation currently has slower charge times. I personally wouldn’t want something that could cost more money and take more time than what I currently have. This innovation of wireless seems like a grand idea, but it seems like it’s something that still needs more work before we see it everywhere.

  9. I believe that this is a great step of innovation that is occurring now. I believe that this will be taking over all devices very soon. One con is that people like to use their phone when charging, and this won’t really allow for that since it needs to be placed onto a platform and charge. I believe they best way that this will take over, and truly work, is if someone finds a way to truly hold their phone, push a button, and it will charge from the spot that you were imperviously in. So if your on your bed facetimeing your friend, it can charge, you don’t have to get up, and continue that conversation.

  10. I think its super interesting how many products are starting to move from plug in chargers to wireless chargers. I think having a wireless charger is very convenient and easier to use rather than having to leave your phone plugged into a wall that is not always right near you. You could also be charging your phone every time you set it down on a table or surface. However, after reading this article I do not think people will really enjoy having wireless chargers. It was stated that the charging will take longer which is the opposite of what users want. People want to have their products charge faster and faster and keep their battery longer. So having a longer charging time is definitely a con of wireless charging. Another con is that you cannot really use your phone while it is charging. For example every night before I go to sleep, I lay in bed on my phone while it is plugged into its charger. If I had wireless charging I would not be able to do this.
