market of iwatch

The market for iWatch is a wearable tech-computing market. Smartwatches are a combination of traditional watch and high-tech. iWatch is also a representative of the internet of things since the network of physical devices embedded with electronics, software which enables connect and exchange data, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions.

We can find that battery life is one of the important factors that smartwatch companies should focus on, From battery life and price these two most significant perspectives, the iWatch does not show great competitive advantages. The battery life is quite short compare with other smart watches and the price is the second highest.

For Samsung, which is the biggest competitor its watches can work independently and there is no need to connect to other devices through Bluetooth. However, its software is a bland look.

  1. I personally think smart watches are a big waste of money but a fantastic business creation. I am not sure why people basically need a second phone on their wrist when about 95% of the time your smartphone is in your pocket or near you. I rather invest in a nice original watch for example a rolex or a swiss watch, something that is different but still worth something. Having a watch to see messages from your friends just a second sooner than taking out your phone and looking is not worth the price apple or anyone else charges for their smartwatches. I think people who want a smartwatch, REALLY want one and can afford it. Their is a 99.9% chance that I will never purchase a smartwatch because I see no need of it in my current lifestyle. This also relates to the fact that people are addicted to screens and always have to be connected to everyone else, I personally like to live in the moment and enjoy every single second of it.

  2. I really liked the last paragraph of your post. Your post was very interesting to me in many ways.
I personally don’t find products like this to be a need, and even as a want I never understood why anyone would get one. I feel if you have a phone, and a regular watch whats the point of having a fancy phone-watch. This is why I enjoyed the last paragraph of your post because it helped me understand why and who gets these products. It makes more sense to me now.

I also love how you bring up the internet of things because it also helped me to understand why they were even made and why people want and get them. As a once saw it as a phone-watch I know see them as another way to share information and media.

  3. iWatches are something I’ve been on the fence about for a while now. I’ve always looked at them as a necessity for the rich or lazy, and although I still think they’re pretty unnecessary, I have seen a few reasons as to why they can be pretty beneficial. First things first, they’re pretty expensive for what are essentially a smaller iPhone. They can do everything your phone can do, but it can be slightly more convenient for people with demanding jobs or kids trying to text in class.

I like how you mentioned the internet of things, because this is a pretty good example of exactly that. The iWatch branched off of the iPhone, but I am just not convinced it was necessary. Obviously apple is happy with this product, because it has done very well sales wise, I’m just personally not convinced. I agree the company should focus more on their battery issues, but their main focus is on making money, and making things like iWatches as opposed to fixing an issue that won’t sway many minds, is just what they need to meet that goal.

  4. It’s interesting to see how smartwatches are being marketed and who are buying them because, when they first came out, I thought this would be a true fad. Looking at these demographics, I still find this to be a non-sustainable business model even if the battery-life and price were changed. Some other complaints that might lead to the end of Smartwatches are the lack of focus on what it’s use is, the jumbled organization of things on the Smartwatch, becoming a more complicated version of a smartphone, and an uncool “geek factor.” While some of these issues are being resolved as the Smartwatches become a more luxury product, I still don’t see it’s long-lasting appeal into the next decade.

  5. I think that there is a very specific market for the I watch, that you missed. In most instances, the individuals that I have seen with an I watch are huge apple enthusiasts. They have had an iPhone since the day they were born, and they also have a Mac computer. In many instances, this is the appeal of apple, to “collect them all” an approach that is similar to pokemon. Apple has designed their products to be compatible with each other and to play off of each other’s strengths, meaning that for users who are able to purchase all of the products, the user experience is heightened. For example, my aunt is a huge Apple enthusiast and has the latest iPhone preordered every time it comes out. For her, the I watch had a special appeal since it let her continue to brag about being a huge Apple enthusiast and have the products to back her talk up.
