Several artists I have been following on social media have been talking about how the Instagram algorithm has been updated once again.
Now, Instagram is going to demote content they see as “ inappropriate ” even if the post does not violate the social media page’s community guidelines. This means that a post on Instagram sees as “inappropriate” will have less reach and will be filtered from Explore and Hashtags. This will affect many influencers who post content that is revealing or cause many meme pages to get less exposure.
A problem of this is that the guidelines are very vague. Some assume that since AI is involved in this process of screening content, this can be seen as trying to make the algorithm efficient and shrinking its responsibilities.
With Tumblr recently banning sexual content and now with Instagram lowering the engagement of vaguely “inappropriate” content, it makes raises the question if this is a trend we could expect from other social media platforms.
We have seen a few different varieties of fold-able phones pop up over the past few years. What are they and why should we care? Well, the idea of fold-able phones is pretty self-explanatory…they are touchscreen display phones that fold in some way or another, and continue to work as a touch display once folded. Why should you care? Well to be brutally honest, at the moment the results have been quite ugly, and so for the moment being, you have no reason to care. Concept designs that have yet to be truly released, such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X, the ROYOLE Flexpai, and other let down products are the best to be offered in this category of device, and they have ALL been huge let downs.
Taking the Samsung Galaxy Fold as an example, the phone promises to be innovative and exceptional in its usefulness for having two different size screens that can allow the user a wide range of capabilities, but also be a compact and easily portable phone one second, while having a vibrant and large screen the next. The problem is, instead of succeeding at both (or at least one), its failing in both categories. The small screen isn’t totally fold-able, but instead more bendable. It produces a ginormous gap between the two halves of the inner display, and makes the phone look like a this piece of paper that is halfway through being folded for a piece of origami. When opened up to be used for its larger more impressive display, there is a very obvious line that is splitting the screen in half in a very messy and distracting way, not to mention the worst aspect of the phone, in which its very likely that one half of the large display could simply choose to stop working at any moment and turn into a large white canvas that is completely unresponsive and useless.
These phones are expected to be the next revolutionary product, and guiding the way to a new innovative and creative design future. Instead, it looks like they may just end up being a nearly two thousand dollar paperweight.

Samsung keeps reminding us that the Galaxy Fold is a huge embarrassment
Let me talk about the spaceship in science fiction movies, taking “Prometheus” that I personally like.
In the sci-fi movie Prometheus, the time background is at the end of the 21st century, when humans drove the spacecraft “Prometheus” to explore distant unknown galaxies. According to the film’s setting, this is the first time that humans have carried out such interplanetary expeditions. Therefore, “Prometheus” should be the most advanced interstellar spacecraft at that time, capable of crossing the interplanetary space of the solar system for interstellar space flight.
On the whole, I personally think that the design of Prometheus is a little more borrowed from the Quiet Serenity. Since the cockpits of “Secret” and “Prometheus” are located in front. This design idea is estimated to be more convenient for visual flight. This is important for interplanetary spacecraft that require frequent landings, but it is not necessary for a stellar spacecraft. However, because they are based on different worldview settings, although they are both stellar spacecraft, the “Silence” is a cargo ship that can fly at super-fast speed, so its front cockpit and large portholes that can be directly visually observed, Obviously it is in line with its worldview. However, for the stellar spacecraft “Prometheus”, which is relatively backward in technology and can only fly at sub-light speed, the front cockpit and oversized portholes are obviously designed to take care of the visual style of the film.
Apple products are used by the majority of cell phone users. People update their phones every few years and are left with a deactivated phone. What should they do with these old phones? Throw them in the garbage does not seem environmentally correct while saving the phone almost guarantees it is going to collect dust stuffed in a drawer. Think about these tips when you upgrade to a new cell phone.
The first thing a user should do is erase all of the data on their phone, specifically the find my iPhone feature. If you do not delete this feature, then the cell phone cannot be entirely deleted and recycled.
The most important step to take is to remove the sim card and destroy it. This ensures that your private data is going to be entirely deleted. Finally, take it to a local electronics recycling center and enjoy using your new technology.
If you are like me and typically use the navigation tool on your cell phone to find you way places, you may need this nifty device. I will admit that I have been tempted many times to look on my phone while I drive in order to find my way around town, and I do depend heavily on looking to the right or left of my steering wheel to look at my Garmin GPS when I drive in order to be able to get anywhere that I haven’t been before.
The problem always seems to be that I have to take my eyes off the road (even for a short few seconds) in order to see where I am on the map. This is typically not a big deal when I’m driving rather slow on smaller residential roads, but when driving at high speeds this can be a very dangerous glance away from the path ahead. That’s where NAVDY comes in handy!

One of the most practical technological products that I have ever used is something that I just recently purchased, and has already saved my life. What I am talking about is the Tile. The Tile is a flat, roughly one inch by one-inch square device that you attach to valuable possessions that you would hate to lose. You pair the Tile with your phone through their app, and once completed, your possessions become substantially more findable. Say I put the tile in my wallet; when I lose my wallet, all I have to do is go to the Tile app and click the Tile associated with my wallet. Once I do this, the app shows me where the Tile is when it was last connected.
When you are within 100 yards of the Tile, the app lets page it. When you hit the button on the app, the Tile will loudly ring, allowing you to easily locate your device. Tile uses the Internet of Things, receiving data (location of your tile) and relaying it to the app so it can easily be found by the owner.
Tile also allows for owners of their product to connect with other. If somebody loses their wallet, and cannot get within 100 yards of it so they can page it, they can hit “Notify when Found” on the app. As soon as a Tile owner comes within range of your device, they will get a notification, and will be able to contact you and send you the location that it was found so it can easily be returned. The Tile really is so clutch to have, and has already helped me find my items that would have surely been lost.

The days of professional athletes not being able to perfect their craft due to outside factors are gone. Through virtual reality, athletes now have the ability to train despite elements like a rainy day affecting them. Both tennis and golf players can continue their training through indoor simulations that provide realistic simulations and scenarios. Through 3D imagery, athletes can also be hooked up to a simulator with goggles that will provide them with a virtual reality of a real game scenario. Thus, they don’t necessarily need to run drills or have an opponent, but will be able to train on their own while gaining valuable experience.
Examples of these VR labs include STRIVR, a lab based out of Menlo Park, California which provides training to a variety of professional including NFL and Olympic athletes. STRIVR provides a headset that has a 360 video simulator that allows these athletes to experience real-life situations before they even happen, so they are prepared when/if they do. The NFL uses this lab to try and increase quarterbacks reaction time to limit their chance of getting hurt.
Winter Olympics gold medal recipient in the giant slalom race, Mikaela Shiffrin, used this lab to prepare for her race on the world stage. In 2016, her coach sought a technology to prepare not only Shiffrin but her teammates as well for the challenging Jeongseon course that would appear in the Olympics. STRIVR filmed the experience by attaching a camera to a coach and had him go down the course a plethora of times. They then took that footage and created a simulation to prepare the athletes for the course and assist them in becoming faster.
With new technologies like this developing, the world may start to see the greatest athletes known to man appear.
Recently, a group of people from Tokyo Institute of Technology released a series of video about their new invention. Different from the previous systems designed by other teams, this FuturePose system is created through AI and machine learning from some movement videos. They are not using some complex code to create the system. They only use some normal RGB frames as the input.
Through the adjustment of the AI, the FuturePose system can predict people’s next step of movement within 0.5 seconds. This system receives a lot of attention from the public after the video was released. People could use it as a tool in a lot of areas, such as boxing, soccer, and basketball. Since they can easily predict the next step of the opponent.
Also, this system could be used in the VR domain. People can not only use it in the games but also use it as a trainer for boxers.

While artificial intelligence is slowly becoming more relevant in people’s lives, some are worried they will lose their jobs to these robots. This may somewhat unrealistic because it is incredibly unlikely that America will soon function without humans perform their jobs. Yet people continue their paranoia about these robots performing human tasks.
For example, grocery stores are utilizing artificial intelligence in their stores. Instead of asking an employee where to find foods, people go up to the robot and type in the food they’re looking for. They sometimes are even able to talk to it!
As of today, there are three major threats to existing jobs: globalization, aging societies, and digitalization. These are the only reason that jobs have been eliminated. However, way more jobs have been created.
Humans have been working with technology and robots as opposed to against it. These new machines and technology cannot be operated to work independently so they need help from humans. This mass hysteria is ultimately blind paranoia. People are looking at this the wrong way. Instead of seeing that humans and robots are working together, they are too focused on the slim chance that they will lose their jobs to this technology.
Tobii is a company from Switzerland. This company is mainly working on Eye tracking and Eye movement control technology. Their technologies can be founded in a lot of new computer systems. Their collaboration with Windows helped a lot of disabled people, giving people a new way of typing and using computers.
Recently, Tobii published its new generation of Tobii Aware. The new Tobii Aware could connect with the Windows Hello, which is the face id login system. When users leave their desk and not using the computer, the Tobii Aware will make the screen blurry and even automatically lock the screen. Thus, other people will not able to peek the users’ screens and still their personal information. Also, people can set lock the screen function to sleep mode, which will help to save more battery when the computer is not been using.
Also, the eye-tracking technology will also provide the ability to help the user bring the page to another screen. This will help people to work more efficiently.
Besides that, Tobii Aware also updates the healthy function, which will show the user the screening using time, the distance from the screen, and the notification for the user to take a break.
