Coronavirus: Can you get too much news?

When you turn on your TV, listen to the radio or even surf the internet you will be flooded by news of the Coronavirus.  Now don’t get me wrong staying up to date is important to help keep ourselves safe.  However, In the article “How Much News Is Too Much News These Days?” Dr. Carole Lieberman coins a term coronavirus stress syndrome. Researchers say that too much bad news may not be good for your mental state. Believe it or not it may even make you more vulnerable to catching the disease.  The more stressed you become the more your immune system is weakened.  So watching the news or surfing the internet seeing all this information about the virus may increase the feelings of hopelessness or anxiety that you may already be experiencing.  Now, I’m not saying to turn off the TV and stop surfing the internet completely because you do want to stay informed.  Just reduce your time online reading about the situation. You most likely spend to much time on the internet already.  To avoid seeing all news about the virus shut off your computers and do a puzzle or read a book.  It can do a body good.
