NieR:Automata

I want to discuss a new game that came out called NieR:Automata. I haven’t played this game but I’ve seen gameplay from it and I’m going to purchase it soon based on what I’ve seen. Now this game was developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, two very well established and respected gaming companies PlatinumGames is a relatively new company that is known for games such as Bayonetta and Square Enix is known for the Final Fantasy series.
NieR:Automata is a third person open-world action RPG where the player plays a female android whose job is to reclaim an Earth that was overtaken by machines. The game so far has received positive reviews with high praise to its combat system and art style. The game is all about machines that have advanced AI and in order to make them likeable or relatable to the player each one has a unique personality to them. The game has also been praised for its boss battles that have unique mechanics to each one.
The developer PlatinumGames decided to branch out from their other games and have more typical RPG elements such as upgrading the player’s weapons with cogs or upgrading your companion android’s abilities. The game also tackles a problem that is unique to third person perspective games which is the camera can sometimes point in a direction that makes moving the game annoying. In NieR:Automata the camera will move to an overhead view or to a wider view in order to make boss battles or platforming much easier to do.
NieR:Automata is a $60 game and I believe that it is worth every penny. The game seems like a unique experience that doesn’t try to copy any other game. The story is based on this what-if dystopian scenario that has been used before but PlatinumGames decided to put their own spin on things. I really can’t wait to pick it up and try it out.

I am super excited to play Nier: Automata too. Unfortunately for me I don’t have $60 I can easily spend on it. That being said I’ll definitely pick it up once it goes on sale and when I finish up some of the backlog that I have. Nier is one of those games that just looks amazing. The combat looks fluid, the art direction is unique, and overall it seems like it’ll be an unforgettable experience. I am trying not to get too hyped for the game because I do not want to expect too much and sour my experience. Though it is hard not too when the game is getting universal praise!
