Kingdom Defense will be a wave defense style game placed in the times of castles and knights. Our tagline to go with the game is, “Bringing casual defense games tot he modern era.” In this game the player will make a strategic decision regarding what other kingdoms to ally with, what infrastructure and defense to upgrade in their own kingdom, and control a hero character in real-time to aid in the defense of the castle from each wave of enemies. The game branched from the idea of being able to pull up a defense game, play one level, save and quit until next time. In games today this ability to pick up and play for 30 minutes or less with no seen consequences is harder to come by. There is a lot of competition between player to player or even to earn a place on a leader board. We hope to stay away from that by making an entertaining defense game that can be played as much or as little as the player wants.
This can be seen as a survival game. There are waves to live through, but there will be an end to the game. We hope to implement a story line that gives an ending to the waves of enemies and a reason to it all.
The player will see two different styles of play. In between waves, there will be a view of their castle with management type functions with upgrades and deployments available. During waves, the player will have an avatar to use to attack the enemies directly.
This game will be available on PC built on the UDK engine. For the genre, we say we are pulling from a mix of Castle/Tower Defense, Twin-Stick Shooter, Strategy, and Choose Your Own Adventure (Story) genres.

I like the sound of incorporating a story and ending into the traditional wave survival and tower defense games. I hope this can be completed within the course time frame.
