Achievements

’70s

David Reel ’75 was elected as chair of the Republican Central Committee of Talbot County, Maryland, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Maryland Republican Party.

Joel Burcat ’76 published his first novel, Drink To Every Beast, which won an honorable mention at the 2019 New York Book Festival for Best General Fiction.

Jeff Stewart ’79 was promoted to vice president at Howard Industries, a national provider of architectural signage systems and exclusive supplier to Penn State.

’80s

Brad Norris ’83 passed the state and federal National Board of Administrators exams to become licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a nursing home administrator.

Gina MacFalls, D.Ed., ’88, ’90g, ’02g, of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, is an adjunct instructor at Wilson College teaching graduate courses in special education. She is also an adjunct instructor for Penn State’s Workforce Education and Development Program.

’90s

Greg A. Weitzel ’97 was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the National Recreation and Park Association and selected as chair for its Public Policy Committee. He also serves on the Conservation Advisory Board. Weitzel is director of the Department of Parks and Recreation for the City of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and his wife, Jennie L. ’96, is an administrative assistant for the College of Eastern Idaho.

’00s

Jeremiah Underhill ’00 was recently named to the National Disability Rights Network’s Fourth Circuit’s Legal Strategy Working Group (LSWG). The Fourth Circuit LSWG is part of a network comprised of protection and advocacy attorneys representing each of the 11 numbered federal judicial circuits. Underhill currently works at Disability Rights of West Virginia where he serves as the legal director.

Dre Baldwin ’04 released the book, Work On Your Game: Using The Pro Athlete Mindset to Dominate Your Game in Business, Sports, and Life.

Friends

J.P. Richardella, retired development assistant for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, received the 2019 Ridge Riley Lion’s Pride Award which recognizes exemplary Penn State spirit in the performance of a person’s duties and responsibilities to the division and in broad service to Penn State.

Tracy Hinish, member of the Penn State Altoona Alumni Society Board of Directors, received the Margaret Smith Leadership Award for her proven leadership in education.

Tom Seasoltz, member of the Penn State Altoona Alumni Society Board of Directors, was named chief financial officer of the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation.

Engagements

Kathryn Hogue ’11 and Christopher Lieb are engaged to be married. An August wedding is planned.

Eden Henry ’13 and Matthew Crum, both of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, are engaged to be married. A September 14 wedding is planned at St. Mary’s Parish in Hollidaysburg.

Linzie Stahl ’13 and Logan Arnett, both of Altamonte Springs, Florida, are engaged to be married. A September 6 wedding in Boca Raton is planned.

Bridgette N. Durbin ’14 and Joshua D. White are engaged to be married.

Weddings

Caitlin Zeiders ’12 and Mathew Miller, of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, were united in marriage on November 10, 2018, at Union Grove, LLC in Broad Top City.

Erin Paul ’15 and Matthew Landfried ’14 were united in marriage on July 7, 2018, at Bree-Z-Acres in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania. The couple resides in Newport News, Virginia.

Zachary Burchfield ’16 and Lauren Felix, of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, were united in marriage on August 4, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg.

Future Alumni

Michael Schafer ’08 and wife, Sarah, welcomed a daughter, Rose.

Bridget Hammel ’09 and husband, Chris, welcomed a son, Colton Ray Hammel, on March 9, 2019.

Kaitlin D. Bovard ’11 delivered Levi Juniper on May 30, 2019. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.
