Penn State alumnus Dr. Ronald Mallett was featured in a new feature-length documentary directed by Jay Cheel, How to Build a Time Machine. In May, Dr. Mallett was invited to attend North America’s largest documentary film festival, the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, in Toronto for the world premiere of the film. The UK’s online newspaper, The Telegraph, featured an article on Dr. Mallett’s story and the documentary. The full story can be found at: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/2016/07/05/meet-the-scientist-on-a-quest-to-reunite-with-his-dead-father/.

Dr. Mallett is a research professor and professor emeritus of physics at the University of Connecticut and author of Time Traveler: A Scientist’s Personal Mission to Make Time Travel a Reality. Inspired by H.G. Wells’ science fiction novel, The Time Machine, Dr. Mallett made it a lifetime goal to invent a time machine that could reunite him with his father who had passed away suddenly when he was a young boy.

Dr. Mallett was the 2006 recipient of Penn State Altoona’s Outstanding Alumni Award and received the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award—the most prestigious award given by the University—in 2007.

In October, Dr. Mallett will take the stage in Vienna, Austria, for a prestigious TED Talk. The TED Talk will be available to stream on YouTube.
