The WPS Office Solutions 3-D Printer Lab, located on the lower level of the Robert E. Eiche Library, was formally dedicated on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Chancellor and Dean Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry gave remarks, in addition to Professor of Visual Arts Rebecca Strzelec, Supervisor of Engineering Laboratories Eric Beaver, engineering student Joseph Calibeo, and President of WPS Office Solutions Debra J. Dellaposta.

WPS Office Solutions made a commitment of $100,000 in support of Penn State Altoona’s Engineering and Visual Art Studies programs, which included the ProJet 460 Plus 3D Printer as an in-kind gift and established the WPS Enhancement Fund, an enduring source of funding to support the acquisition and maintenance of technology within the lab.

The recently established Center for Additive Manufacturing and Printing or ‘The CAMP’ is located in the WPS Office Solutions 3-D Printer Lab. The CAMP is funded and supported by the Engineering and Visual Art departments and area businesses—including WPS Office Solutions—and was created to provide a resource for students, faculty, and staff across the Penn State Altoona campus community to explore Additive Manufacturing (3D printing).

Each guest at the dedication received a miniature 3D replica of the Nittany Lion, created using the ProJet 460 Plus 3D Printer, to commemorate the event.
