Selected 3D building models
This page showcases building models I created at the current site of Cahal Pech that I created. The models were created for individual structures using structure-from-motion mapping. It is part of the project “VR Mayan Site” that we collaborated with Belize Institute of Archaeology and Northern Arizona University. Read more about the project here.
These models can take some time to load depending on the internet and computer specs. Please wait until the progress bar reaches the end to see the full resolution. (Even so, the actual resolution of these models are much higher than they appear here due to web compression.)

Structure B1-B2-B3
These are the Structure B1-B2-B3. They together make a burial site. The back of the site hasn’t been completely excavated yet.
Room with bench
This room has a bench inside, where Mayan elites sat. Their servants surrounded them in the room, offering food and drinks. You can zoom into the room to see the bench. It was fun to model an entire structure, with both the interior and the exterior (and it was also quite an interesting experience to camera-explore this room with high and humid temperature, and lots of bugs ; )

Ballcourt
This ballcourt is one of the two ballcourts in Cahal Pech. Ballcourts are common in Mayan sites. Ballcourt is a large masonry structure used primarily to play the Mesoamerican ballgame, in which players used their hip to touch the ball (Aveni et al., 1976).
