Outside of research I like traveling and diving while traveling. Check out my travel albums below.
Kyoto, Japan
I love historic gardens and architecture. In Japan, I decided to have a “temple run” where I visited Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺), Kenninji (建仁寺), Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺), Hōkan-ji (法観寺) and a lesser-known temple Hōzan-ji (宝山寺)and some shrines such as Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社)
Was waiting for the sunrise on the famous Nineizaka (二年坂). There were a lot of photographers on the narrow stone-paved pedestrian road to capture Hōkan-ji and it was hard to get in front of them, until I saw this beautiful cherry blossom.
San Ignacio, Belize
During the intermission of my field work, I took a photo of tourists exploring Cahal Pech. There were many of them, most from Europe and North America, who made the small town of San Ignacio lively in summer.

The town of San Ignacio. Despite the small size, there is a fine-dining restaurant, and the world’s best ice cream place!
I took a rain forest trip after my last day of the field trip. I was canoeing down the river with a local. Couldn’t keep track of how many iguanas I saw in that day.

It was cold when we went to the Kalaloch beech in August.
Hawaii
The Big Island at Hawaii was pristine and out of electricity. Breathtaking view!
