This post features the different ways that I can approach the looking glass project- a fire, a teacup, or the king chess piece. I will pay around with more of these objects in the software, but I like the fire over the other pieces, as it is the most original of the 3 ideas. The inspiration for the fire came from the reference to the fireplace in the wiki.
UPDATE!!!!
After more consideration, I decided that the fire was not going to work, as I needed to augment the shape more. I decided that it would be cool to distort a chess piece. I started with a king piece, with other pieces sticking out. Then I turned the rook piece into feet, as the object should still stand well with the feet. Last, I incorporated all the shapes into the Queen piece. I will need to scan a queen piece and a bishop piece to make this sketch a 3D model. I will make the kings crown, rook feet and the “pawn balls” myself in the software. I will create the final sketch.
