Above is a rendering of my completed Looking Glass Project, titled “Multi-Chess”. The name comes from the fact that this chess piece has parts of many different chess pieces. The “feet” of the object were inspired from the Rook piece, the “Body” of the object was inspired from the King and Queen piece, the “Arms” were inspired from the topping of a pawn piece, the shield was inspired from the knight piece, the bishop head was then placed on top, as the kings crown was placed over the bishop head. When I made this piece, I specifically checking to make sure that the part would easily 3D print. I did my best to keep support material to a minimum, as the support material can be very hard to remove.
When I designed this piece, I included many part from thingaverse.com. The Body, Feet, Head and Shield were taken from thingaverse.com and modified to work with the protect. The big challenge was scaling the object appropriately. The project is meant to mimic the “chess” theme, inspired from “Through the Looking-Glass”.
