Week Recap!
Hello! I hope that you all had a better week than I did! This week was a tough one for me. I had a stomach illness from Tuesday until late last night. However, by God’s healing, I feel amazing. So on that note, let us hop into the best scriptures of the week!
Sunday: 1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love”
Wow! These scriptures really show how important love is in the world. For love to be greater than hope and faith! I would think that faith would be the strongest since faith is what connects us to God. However, this made me realize how much love is in our everyday life and how it can change the course of our day in a blink of an eye.
Monday: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”
I feel like since we do experience this life first-hand, we began to get a little bit to cocky and bighead for ourselves. I know I have been in situations where I have said to God “I know what I am doing” when in reality this leads me to confusion about where I am going. God then corrects my mistakes and I move on from that. Now, this scripture is not telling us to turn away and all knowledge and just sit around and not learn, however, when making choices that may seem difficult, we should always reside in what God instructs us to do.
Wednesday: Psalms 68:5 “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling”
At first, I did not understand this scripture until I watched the video that comes with the verse of the day. The man in the video took an interesting take on the scripture that resonates with me to this day. He said that this scripture is also how we should act to others. We should be that person that someone can count on to give them correct and spiritually enriching advice at hard times in their lives. While we most likely will not go into the world and search for a widow, we can still aid those in loss both financially and mentally. We all know how hard a loss can be and what support we would like from others, so let us show that same support to others.
Thursday: Psalms 40:1 “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand”
This scripture is one of the reasons why I serve the God I serve. Most people will not even touch us when we are at our lowest. They will wait until we pick ourselves up and tell us “Good job!”. God, however, will reach into those hard times, in all that filth, and bring us up and set us in an environment that is stable and beneficial for us. Also, notice how it says that we should wait for the Lord. Not wait for what we want to happen.
A lot of people this week were sick. I wonder if something is going around. The Monday verse is funny to me because I studied that verse at the Friday night Navigator meeting and Wednesday Nav small group. God must really want me to forget my own understanding and trust His plan for me.
I love your quote from Corinthians 13:13. Faith, hope, and love are some of the most powerful qualities one can have in life. When looking to live a life like Jesus, the qualities are a key factor for happiness. Keep it up Jax.
