About Me

As resumes don’t always allow for a lot of personal detail, I hope this page helps you to get to know me a little better!

I grew up in State College, Pennsylvania, just a few miles away from Penn State’s main campus where I am now a student. In high school I was convinced I would be a music major, and it was my love for music that got me interested in engineering initially, as I was fascinated by the technology behind electric guitars and amplifiers. I actually got to express my interest in music technology recently in my coursework, as you can see in my Technical Definition writing sample.

During my freshman and sophomore year I had the opportunity to participate in the Penn State Marching Blue Band as a trumpet player. The rush of marching out of the tunnel in front of a hundred thousand screaming fans is something I’ll never forget. Not to mention getting to go to all the football games for free is a pretty good deal! In the picture on the left, you can see me and my high school band director, who is also a Blue Band alumnus, playing on the field of Beaver Stadium after a game.

Another hobby of mine is competitive gaming, and I’ve been the treasurer of the Super Smash Brothers Club at Penn State for two years. Through this community I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the country and meet people who share my love for this game, and I’ve also gotten to indulge my competitive side by competing in club tournaments as well as large-scale national tournaments. As treasurer I managed a budget of $5000 that would be used to travel as a club to these national events, and I would also be heavily involved in the planning of these trips. As you can see from the crowd of people behind me in the picture on the right, these video game competitions can get pretty intense!
