Last Saturday I woke up bright and early in order to catch a 7:15 am car ride to the cemetery with Professor Nichols. I started my day by knocking on Maddy’s door to wake her up, we ate granola bars on our way to the bus stop. We got to the cemetery and started to set up immediately. I was on groundskeeping duty so I volunteered to mow the lawn, specifically in-between each grave. After mowing for about an hour I helped Maddy trim some bushes, we worked together because some of the roots were stuck onto the stones. It was a lot of hard work and I was definitely sweating by the end of the first hour! After a few hours of work we got rewarded with lunch from Bellefonte! I loved driving through the town of Bellefonte and seeing all the cool places like parks, restaurants, and farmers markets! The whole community came together around the town, so many people were out and enjoying the beautiful summer day! Overall I felt very good after my hard day of service, I enjoyed volunteering with my COMM100 class and look forward to continuing my acts of service at State College through the next four years!
