Teaching Philosophy:
Teaching is an endeavor I take seriously and one that I’ve honestly enjoyed from my earliest days as a Teaching Assistant. Seeing the ‘light bulb’ go on for a student is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher. Making it happen consistently however is difficult and requires a combination of careful planning and creating opportunities. As a teacher, I strive to give students the tools to gain knowledge, apply critical thinking skills, and construct an overarching understanding of course topics. In watershed systems analysis formulas abound for the quantification of fluxes. While developing the necessary computational skills is essential, that information is often learned elsewhere. Rather, my focus is on exercising those skills to help conceptualize the systems understanding necessary for many decisions in the real world.
