I had a really enjoyable time writing about my past experience on doing community service and how it had a huge impact on my life. Since it was so personal and important to me, it felt like writing down what I had to say came to me really easily. I also enjoyed the style of writing that we had to do for this assignment. I enjoy writing to describe or tell a story much more than the typical essay format. In the end, I was able to get the recording done and posted in a relatively short amount of time, which is typically not how it goes with these recordings. Overall, I was extremely happy how the final result turned out.
I also agree if something has a larger impact on my life then I have an easier time writing about it. I am happy that your recording went so smoothly and that you are proud of your final result!
Listening to this story is very inspirational. Hearing all the lessons you were able to learn at such a young age makes me want to get up and go volunteer somewhere. I specifically loved when you said “a mosaic of reasons to give back to my community”, I think that’s a beautiful way to describe the lessons you learned. I also enjoyed how you mentioned your friends who did not volunteer with you; showing both sides of the situation helps connect to a larger audience. Great job Josh!
I loved the beginning of your podcast. It was so vivid with emotion and senses. It helped paint a picture in my mind of what it would be like sitting in the soup kitchen. I really enjoyed this story because of the emphasis you put on the connections you made with the customers. Although these moments may be small, they are truly life changing. Sometime, all someone needs is a listener or an act of kindness to keep them going.
