One of the most famous and widely known common places around the world is Nike’s slogan “Just do it”. The really fascinating thing about the “just do it” slogan is that it doesn’t mention the name of the brand, and it still has had a monumental effect on the company. It is one of the many reasons why Nike has become one of the biggest athletic brands in the world. The majority of major corporations have their own slogan, and Nike knew they needed a persuasive slogan to be successful, and “just do it” was a perfect fit. The slogan is uplifting as it is telling people to follow their dreams and passions. It encourages people to go out and do something when they are questioning their abilities to do it. The slogan makes customers feel positive, inspiring them to want to shop at Nike. In Nike’s case, the rhetorical situation was that they needed a slogan that would attract people to their brand, and they solved it. Another reason that Nike’s slogan is so effective is because of how good they advertise it. If you got to any city in America, and many cities around the world, you will see billboards, signs, commercials, and even advertisements on soda bottles saying “just do it”. Nike also pays the biggest athletes in the sports world to get in front of a camera to say their slogan, which helps attract all of the fans of these athletes to buy their products. There are even stories of inspired people contacting Nike saying they “just did it” after doing something they’ve always wanted to do. Also, Nike’s slogan is very similar to the well known commonplace “you miss every shot you don’t take”. The “just do it” slogan conveys to people that you will never know if your able to achieve your goals if you never give them a chance.

My biggest passion that also revolves around my hobbies and my daily life is sports. I spend a lot of my time either playing, watching, or talking about sports. Growing up I played every sport that was available to me, including football, soccer, basketball, golf, baseball, and lacrosse. As I got older I didn’t have the time to play all of them competitively, so in high school I played football, basketball and baseball. When it comes to watching sports, I’m very passionate about the teams I support. The teams I follow include the Yankees, Knicks, Juventus, Chicago Bears, PGA Tour, and the Italian national team in soccer. Growing up in New York, sports talk has always been a really entertaining aspect of life because of how serious everyone takes it. Some of my best memories from childhood consist of me and my friends debating trending topics at the lunch table or watching football together every Sundays. On top of all of that, sports is the best way for me to clear my mind. If I’m ever stressed out or am without something to do, I’ll walk to the nearest court and play basketball for a couple hours. The majority of my close friends to this day were my teammate at one point or another, further showing why sports have been so important in my life.
