The slogan is uplifting as it is telling people to follow their dreams and passions. It encourages people to go out and do something when they are questioning their abilities to do it. The slogan makes customers feel positive, inspiring them to want to shop at Nike. In Nike’s case, the rhetorical situation was that they needed a slogan that would attract people to their brand, and they solved it. Another reason that Nike’s slogan is so effective is because of how good they advertise it. If you got to any city in America, and many cities around the world, you will see billboards, signs, commercials, and even advertisements on soda bottles saying “just do it”. Nike also pays the biggest athletes in the sports world to get in front of a camera to say their slogan, which helps attract all of the fans of these athletes to buy their products. There are even stories of inspired people contacting Nike saying they “just did it” after doing something they’ve always wanted to do. Also, Nike’s slogan is very similar to the well known commonplace “you miss every shot you don’t take”. The “just do it” slogan conveys to people that you will never know if your able to achieve your goals if you never give them a chance.
