I received my B.S. in Food Science from The Pennsylvania State University in 2018. As an undergraduate researcher, I worked in the labs of Dr. Hassan Gourama and Dr. Edward Dudley. In the Gourama lab, I tested the effect of ultraviolet light on fungi on dry surfaces. In the Dudley lab, I worked to quantify the frequency in which non-pathogenic E. coli increase Shiga toxin production of STEC. I also led a group of undergraduate researchers on a project in partnership with the Penn State E. coli Reference Center and the FDA. In 2023 I graduated from Penn State’s Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Biosciences graduate Ph.D. program with a concentration in Immunology and Infectious Disease. My interests in the Jose Lab include work in high level containment, viral maturation, and host response.

In my free time, I enjoy playing sports; softball and just about anything else. I also enjoy skiing and am a frequent traveler.

I was born and raised in Brazil. I have a Master's degree and PhD in Sciences from the Department of Parasitology of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo, São Paulo – Brazil. During these years, I have dedicated myself to research focused on neglected diseases, in which I acquired solid training in parasitology, immunology, virology, and biochemistry. I have experience in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and the production of recombinant proteins, immunoassays, and genomics.
