Victory at the Azteca = A Draw

How could I not start off this week with perhaps one of the biggest results in United States history? Last week, the United States played Mexico at their stadium fortress known as the Azteca, where the United States has only ever managed to secure one point during qualifying for the World Cup. Nobody expected us to do anything. After 90 minutes of intense play with some missed penalty calls probably, the United States came out improbably with 0-0 draw that means we now sit in third place in world cup qualifying, having already finished one of our hardest matches. We have also played two away games already and have a streak of two at home coming up that should see us secure some vital points. For those of you who don’t know, in order to qualify for the world cup out of North America (CONCACAF), you have to finish in the top three of a group of six after home and away matches against each team. The fourth placed team faces New Zealand in a home and away series to see who will get the final spot. So with this current record of four points, hopefully we will qualify and get to Brazil in 2014!

In the rest of Europe, nothing too exciting has happened. Manchester United is still fifteen points ahead of Manchester City with only eight games remaining, so it appears as if they have the title locked up. In the Champions League, Barcelona drew with PSG of France 2-2, and Messi has now scored against every team in La Liga in CONSECUTIVE games, which is a truly incredible feat. That’s really all that I have for you guys, but stay tuned for more!
