About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.  Before joining the faculty at Behrend, I was a graduate student at Indiana University, where I earned a PHD in philosophy.  I also studied at Bard College and at the University of Chicago.

My teaching and research focus on ethics.  My primary focus at the start of my career was Emmanuel Levinas’s conception of ethical responsibility.  Over the years, I’ve become more interested in bioethics. My most recent publications focus on puzzles raised by reproduction, parenthood, and assisted reproductive technology.

I am also an aspiring fiction writer.

Please feel free to check out my research page to learn more about my work in philosophy and to access some selected essays.  More information about my stories can be on my fiction page.
