I am currently a Business Administration major at Penn State. I am also employed full-time with a healthcare provider in San Diego as a Financial Analyst. The opportunities that will open for me once I complete my degree at PSU will grow immensely. In order to achieve this long-term goal I have to establish short-term goals.
Short-Term Goals:
- I plan to maintain a GPA above 3.5 each semester. In order to accomplish this I will study and do my assigned readings each week and complete all assignments and group work.
- I will enroll for the summer and fall semesters by April 15 (tax day).
- I am currently chair of an Early Careerist event in my chapter. I plan to have a TED talks style event on March 30th with 8-10 speakers. I have put a committee together that meets each Thursday at 1:30pm for one hour. We will be meeting each week to discuss tasks I have delegated to them until the day of the event.
- I am currently the Treasurer for the Healthcare Financial Management Association. I will be moving into the role of Membership Chair or Program Chair of my chapter after finishing my second year as Treasurer; putting me on the President’s track for my chapter.
Long-term Goals:
- By this time next year I plan to be ready to submit my Intent to Graduate.
- Once I receive my degree in May 2018, I will automatically be promoted at work to a higher position.
- I will become President of my chapter once I complete one year as Program or Membership chair.
As time goes by, my goals can be updated or added to. I usually revise my small-term goals as I achieve them. This is a great way to make sure I do not lose focus and stay on track.
