In 2011, the atrocities committed by Jerry Sandusky came to light. The man was exposed as a manipulator and a pedophile of young boys. His heinous acts of sexual abuse upon those he promised to protect and help through his organization, The Second Mile, have scarred the hearts of his victims, the hearts of their loved ones, the hearts of Penn State students and graduates, and the image of Penn State itself. This scandal was only made worse by the negligence of notable Penn State officials along with members of other institutions, such as the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, district attorney, and The Second Mile. Penn State will never forget the crimes committed by one of their own, nor will it forget those effected by Sandusk’s actions.
