Graduate Admissions

Our graduate students complete MS and PhD degrees in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Penn State. They can choose between majoring in Agricultural and Biological Engineering or Biorenewable Systems.

Prospective students need to apply following the instructions for the Department. You can find the requisites for admission here

I am interested in a MS/PhD position in the Bioeco Lab. How can I apply?

Please review the instructions for admision. You will apply directly to the department and should name Dr. Vasco in the application so she can receive your application to be considered for joining the Bioeco Lab.  

Should I contact anyone from the lab before applying?

Potential graduate students are encourage to contact Dr. Vasco via email to express interest in joining the lab, either before or after application. Please include a copy of your CV, a description of why you are interested in joining our group, and why you think you are a good fit.

Can I apply to start on the Spring semester (in January)?

Yes, our department accepts applications for both the Spring and Fall semesters. Please refer to the departmental webpage for more information. 

I am interested in a postdoctoral position in the lab. Is there any position available?

Currently, the Bioeco Lab is open to bringing to the team a postdoc in the area of biobased systems analysis area (TEA/LCA/Process optimization). Please contact Dr. Vasco if you think you have the skills in this field and are looking for a postdoctoral opportunity.
