This is finally my last passion blog. We’ve been through many serial killers and unsolved cases! I would love to know which one of these blogs was your favorite. But first, here is my last passion blog.
Richard Ramirez known as the “Night Stalker” was an American serial killer. He spent over two years raping and torturing over 25 victims and killing more than a dozen people.
Richard Ramirez was born in El Paso, Texas on February 28th, 1960 to Mercedes and Julian Ramirez. While growing up, Ramirez’s cousin, Mike, was a big influence on his killings. Mike had just returned fighting from in the Vietnam War. Mike would tell Ramirez gruesome stories and show pictures of the torture he would inflict upon Vietnamese women. He also introduced Ramirez to drugs which resulted in Ramirez committing petty crimes. He also became a Satan worshipper.
Ramirez’s first serious crime was that he was involved in the murder of Mike’s wife. Mike was the one who originally murdered his own wife, but Ramirez was at the scene of the crime and didn’t do anything to stop the murder. A year later Ramirez murdered over a dozen people and tortured another 25 people around the Los Angeles area. Some of Ramirez’s victims survived and were often sexually assaulted and beaten. Many satanic symbols were found at many of the crime scenes. He would get into his victim’s homes by breaking in in the middle of the night hence the name “The Night Stalker.”
Eventually, a fingerprint was discovered that led to Ramirez’s identification. His fingerprints were on file because he was imprisoned for stealing a car. On August 30th, 1985- 6 days after his first known murder- Ramirez’s name was released to the public. The following day a man identified him in East Los Angeles and notified the police. A chase ensued and as Ramirez tried to steal a car, he was surrounded by a crowd and beaten until police arrived. (He definitely deserved it)
His trial began in early 1989. In September he was convicted of 14 counts of murder and a variety of other crimes. Nearly 2 months later he was sentenced to death. Richard Ramirez never expressed any remorse. After receiving his sentence he stated, “Big deal. Death always went with the territory.” While on death row at San Quentin State Prison, Ramirez was diagnosed with cancer and died in 2013.
My Review
Richard Ramirez was definitely one of the most gruesome murderers I have covered. The things he did to women, I couldn’t state because of how gruesome it is. I would look it up if you are extremely curious about it, but I would be aware that it can be extremely triggering. To be honest, I don’t know how such an evil person could exist. He deserved being beat up by a crowd.
Well this is my last blog. Make sure to comment which one was your favorite!
