MY NEW KIDS

For this post as a semester finale I will be giving reviews of my favorite artists with only one real album out.

CHLOE X HALLE:

Chloe x Halle Strike A Pose In Artfulr Rui Knitwear|SNOBETTE

CHLOE X HALLE is a sister duo currently signed under Beyonce consisting of 20 year old Halle Bailey, and 22 year old Chloe Bailey. They have been active singers since 2013, appear on Grownish, and recently Halle was casted as the new Ariel. You might remember them from Disney’s Let It Shine.

Ungodly Hour (2020):

Ungodly Hour album review: Beyoncé proteges Chloe x Halle step up | EW.com

Number of songs:13 (37 minutes)

Personal Rankings: Only Ranking Songs Not Interludes

1.) Wonder What She Thinks Of Me: Okay so this song is about Chloe’s relationship with Diggy Simmons. He cheated on her and got another woman pregnant. You can really hear her emotions in this song and that alone makes it a 10/10. The song at first seems slow but than really builds

2.) Ungodly Hour: This is my online shopping go to it makes me feel like I have money to waste. I do not know why but the beat is very energetic and has disco feels to it. It reminds me of Daft Punk.

3.) Intro/ Forgive Me: This Song right here has been played so much in my household my brother knows the lyrics by heart. This is a good revenge song and their vocals are so heavenly. This song proves their talent and I can debate for hours how they currently have the strongest vocals from the new generation of singers

4.) Do It: The instrumental of this song was very refreshing and paired with the duos vocals it makes for a song that is catchy and hard to forget. This song is one of my go to picker uppers

5.) Lonely: This song reminds me of 2017 Carly Rae Jepsen in a weird way. I can’t describe it.

6.) Babygirl: This song makes me get a lot of work done. I think it is because of the way they sing.

7.) Don’t Make It Harder On Me

8.) ROYL

9.) Busy Boy

10.) Tipsy

11.) Overwhelmed

12.) Catch Up

Clairo: Baby Face Killer

Clairo's 'Pretty Girl' Went Viral. Then She Had to Prove Herself. - The New York Times

Clario has been my child since 2016 and has helped me survive High School. Born Claire Elizabeth Cottrill, Clairo is singer-songwriter. Born in Atlanta and raised in Massachusetts she makes music that is categorized as Alternative or Bedroom Pop.I am so happy she is starting to hit more of the mainstream because she deserves it.

Immunity (2019):

Immunity - Album by Clairo | Spotify

Number of songs:11 ( 41 minutes)

THIS WAS VERY HARD THIS ALBUM IS TOP TIER COFFEE/RAINY DAY VIBES. No Skips

1.) Sophia: I punch a toddler to hear this song for the first time again, like this song is one of my favorite songs of all time. The vibes in this song is immaculate. it reminds me of Lizzie Mcguire and early teens in the 2000s. The chorus, the bridge, the lyrics everything about the song is simply good. I am pissed she did not give us any music videos but I know that is not really her thing.

2.) Softly: My friend would hit me for putting this song up over bags however I don’t care. It is really the beat and the chorus that seals the deal for me. Clairo is seducing someone in the nicest way it is so cute especially towards the end with the backing vocals being kids.

3.) Bags: This song is about a girl that she has feelings for but not talking about it because they are good friends and she doesn’t even know if the girl is gay. The song is very cute and melodiotic it is a rainy day song. Well it is cute in a I got rejected but I am okay type of way.

4.) Feel Something: This song is just sad with a calming beat, it is about being numb so you can move on.

5.) Sinking: For this song she like exaggerates her pronunciation for each lyric and it makes you feel bad for her. Sad Song lovely voice.

6.) North: The beginning is okay but once she hits that chorus it hits I promise. Very catchy reminds me of the band The 1975.

7.) Alewife

8.) Impossible

9.) White Flag

10.) I Wouldn’t Ask You

11.) Closer To You

  • 4EVER AND PRETTY GIRL ARE BOPS

DOMINIC FIKE:

Dominic Fike drops EP B-sides and says album is “coming soon”50+ Dominic Fike ideas in 2020 | pretty boys, pretty people, beautiful people

I have recently adopted him as my child in 2019 after I heard him on the song Peaches with Kevin Abstract (which is a very good song). Dominic Fike is a 24 year-old singer, rapper, and songwriter from Florida. He got signed one week after he got of jail for fighting a cop. His talent actually caused labels to fight over signing him.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong (2020):

Album Review: Dominic Fike - What Could Possibly Go Wrong - Montreal Rocks

Number of songs: 14 songs (34 minutes)

Personal Rankings: Only Ranking Songs Not Interludes

1.) Florida: This song is about his upbringing and at first I did not really bond with the song but now I love it and it reminds me of the movie The Florida Project which makes me cry profusely.

2.) Vampire: The music video is one of my favorites of this year. I love the simplicity of this song and the guitar carries the song. The fact that he gives us actual choreography is great and unexpected.

3.Politics & Violence: The beginning of the song is amazing because of the lyrics and his nonchalant vocals but the the second half of the song blends in and completely takes over he starts sing-rapping and it is simply beautiful.

4.) Double Negative: This song reminds me of the song Animal by Neon Trees, you probably know the song it is played by every mall religiously. But yeah this song makes me happy I am just upset it is short.

5.) What’s For Dinner: I do not know why almost every song on this album I loved was only 2 minutes but I guess I will just have to suffer. Anyways this song reminds me of going to the Urban outfitters in downtown Philadelphia.

6.) 10x Stronger: This song is way to short and it is mainly instrumental however the violin really seals the deal

7.) Chicken Tender: I know ranking this song this low is controversial, however the other songs just hit me harder. But this song was very good too and I loved the music video. It reminds of the early to mid 2000s.

8.) Wurli

9.) Why

10.) Good Game

11.) Cancel Me

12.) Superstar S***

13.) Come Here

14.) Joe Glazey

  • ACAI BOWL AND ROLLERBLADES ARE SUPERIOR
  • ALSO HIS FIRST EP IS REALLY GOOD

OKAY SO I AM DONE, THANKS FOR TUNING IN!!!!

I have heard rumblings about these artists, but have never actually listened to their work! However, with this review, I will definitely be adding your recommendations to my playlist. I think I am most excited to listen to Chloe x Halle because they truly seem like such genuine young women, and I sense an aura of such female empowerment, which is always awesome!

I have heard a few songs from each of these artists. For Dominic Fike, I don’t think I have ever listened to any of the songs you mentioned in your post, but my favorite song from him is 3 Nights. I’ll have to check out his other ones!

I love how different all of these artists are but also how they represent a new generation of young artists moving forward. I actively listen to Clairo but the other two artists are new to me, but something I should definitely look into.
